Even though hand dishwashing liquid is a great degreaser, it’s not the thing to use on your vehicle’s finish. Yes, it removes dirt, grease and old wax. But it also sucks important oils right out of the paint’s finish. Use it repeatedly and you shorten the life of your paint job. Instead of dish soap for a do it yourself car wash, here’s one of our best car tricks: use a cleaner formulated for vehicles (available at any auto parts store). Once you’ve mixed the suds, go one step further—fill a second bucket with clean rinse water. Use it to rinse the wash mitt often. That’ll remove most of the road grit from the mitt to prevent scratches. Then throw the mitt in the washing machine to get it completely clean. When you’re finished, take a few more steps to protect your car’s finish.

My wife's red Astra Mk4 had severe oxidisation, I mean it was mostly pink and white in places, I have to say through neglect. In three hours the paintwork was transformed beyond belief.I can only echo other reviewers comments and add that Brilliant Car Cleaning is just that - brilliant! My wife, not a lady easily pleased, was absolutely delighted.Thank you very much indeed, Keith Resurrecting The Old V40 Guru Mobile
To neutralize tobacco smoke, buy an aerosol can of Dakota Non-Smoke. Holding the can 12 to 14 in. away from fabrics, lightly spray the headliner (don’t soak it), seats, door panels and carpet. Then turn the fan to high and switch the system to recirculate mode (“max. A/C” if you don’t have that option). Find the intake opening by holding a tissue near the blower motor. Then spray the mist into the opening. Leave the windows closed for at least one hour. Your vehicle will smell like baby powder for a while, but that’ll go away. You can also change your car’s air filter once this is done. Plus: If you have a bad smell in your house, we’ll show you how to fix it. 'Guru Mobile' Salty Seawater Wash!

I didn’t realize that steering wheels are usually the dirtiest parts of a car! My car’s detailing is pretty beaten up, and I would like to work on it so that it looks nice and new again. Working with an auto detailing service to improve my car, and especially in the interior with the dirty steering wheel, is something that I would really like to do.

After the presoak application, a car wash tunnel's layout can vary greatly. In some car washes, presoak application is followed by an empty space, or idle zone. This provides time for the presoak to loosen dirt on the car. In many cases, wheel cleaning equipment, such as sill brushes or high pressure wheel blasters, are placed in the idle zone. A sill brush (also known as a wheel brush or tire brush) consists of an 8-foot-long brush assembly which is pushed against the car's wheels and door sill area. Sill brushes are typically use flagged bristle, as dirt is usually most heavily concentrated on the lower parts of the car. The material on a sill brush may have alternating lengths or use material which is intentionally mounted off-center to allow wheel surfaces of various depths to be cleaned. Sill brushes rely on the rotation of a customer's car's wheels in order to achieve complete wheel contact. Similarly to the CTAs, wheel brushes often only activate when the customer buys a wheel cleaning upgrade. Some car washes use wheel-rim disc brushes in addition to or in place of sill brushes. These assemblies extend out towards the wheel and follow it at the same speed as the conveyor while rotating at high speeds to clean the wheels. These devices are popular in car washes that use belt conveyors, as a belt conveyor prevents the wheels of a customer's car from rotating and thus renders sill brushes useless for wheel cleaning. Some car washes feature multiple sets of wheel brushes and offer multiple levels of wheel cleaning. Tracking high pressure wheel blasters consist of assemblies with multiple nozzles that follow a car's wheel over a distance. While following a car's wheel, a wheel blaster directs high-pressure water at the wheel. The following motion may be achieved by having the nozzles pivot to face the wheel or by having the nozzles move alongside the car at the same speed as the conveyor. At the end of a car wash's presoak idle zone is often a high pressure arch. High pressure arches direct high pressure water at a vehicle's surface. This may be done "V-jet" nozzles, rotating "turbo" nozzles, spinning manifolds, and oscillating and/or pivoting manifolds. Some high pressure systems maintain a constant distance from the vehicle to provide more consistent results. Separate high pressure top, wheel, and/or side blasters may be present in place of or supplementary to a high pressure arch. How To Properly Wash AND Dry Your Car WITHOUT Touching it! Some people swear by carnauba wax. It produces a deep, warm shine. But we prefer the wet-gloss look of the newer synthetic polymer waxes (also known as paint sealant) such as Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax. It’s pricier than other synthetics, but it doesn’t leave a white film on plastic or trim—which is a real advantage. Plus, it’s really easy to apply. Apply the wax to the foam applicator and rub it into the finish with a swirling motion. Then wipe off the haze with a microfiber towel. Swap in a clean towel as soon as the first one loads up for one of our clever car tricks.

Aftermarket seat covers cost as little as $50 per seat for a universal-fit style or about $150 per seat for top-of-the- line custom-fit covers. The installation is similar across makes and models. The job takes about two hours for front and rear seats. The only tools you’ll need are a wire coat hanger and some tape to fish the straps under plastic trim pieces (if equipped). Everything else is included with the seat covers. GLASGOW'S Number One AUTOGLYM MOBILE CAR VALETERS - CAR VALETING GLASGOW
Old style paste waxes look great on antique cars. But they don’t produce the same “wet look” as modern synthetic wax, and they don’t last as long when detailing cars. When car dealers sell paint sealant, they’re really just applying a high-quality synthetic wax, which is something you can do yourself for a fraction of the price. Apply synthetic wax in small sections using a wax applicator sponge. Check out this unusual way to use car wax in the kitchen.

Renee, either you didn't read the article, or making assumptions. The article is only talking about INTERIOR details, not the whole shabang. An interior detail should not come close to $400. I wouldn't necessarily call this "skilled labor". Exterior details do require much more skill, but would disagree that $50 per hour is the "norm" for this type of work. It wouldn't make sense to pay $50/hr when some professional nurses and engineers don't make that much. Mobile Car Detailing London 5 Star Review by Oliver A.

The biggest part of maintaining your vehicle is keeping it clean and shiny. Although you can use dish soap to wash your vehicle, most manufacturers suggest that you use detergents that are specific for cleaning car finishes. These types of detergents not only protect your vehicle's finish but also help remove things like salt stains, brake dust and tree sap that ordinary soap may not be able to remove. For this, you need access to water, a bucket, sponge or rags, and towels for drying.

Many full service car washes also provide "detailing" services, which may include polishing and waxing the car's exterior by hand or machine, shampooing and steaming interiors, and other services to provide thorough cleaning and protection to the car. The start of the history of car washing dated back into 1914. People used manpower to push or move the cars through stages of the process. Eventually, manual car wash operations peaked at 32 drive-through facilities in the United States. Prior to this time, the evolution of car washing was just at the beginning, and that the automatic car washing was born. The first semi-automatic car wash was active for the first time in Detroit, Michigan using automatic pulley systems and manual brushing.[4]
