After the main friction zone, some car washes have a dedicated care zone. Prior to entering the care zone, the car is rinsed with fresh water. This is immediately followed by a series of extra services. In many car washes, the first of these services is a polish wax. Polish waxes fill in microscopic imperfections in the vehicle's clear coat, thus improving shine. After the polish wax application is typically a retractable mitter or top brush and, in some cases, side brushes or wrap-around brushes. Next is a protectant, which creates a thin protective film over a vehicle's surface. Protectants generally repel water, which assists in drying the car and aiding in the driver's ability to see through their windshield during rain. A low-end wax or clear coat protectant follows the main protectant. A drying agent is typically applied at the end of the tunnel to assist in removing water from the vehicle's surface prior to forced air drying. After the drying agent, there may be a "spot free" rinse of soft water, that has been filtered of the salts normally present, and sent through semi-permeable membranes to produce highly purified water that will not leave spots. If the reservoir is empty (and doesn’t it always seem to be?), use an unlikely substitute to clean your windshield: feminine hygiene maxi-pads, a box of which you could stash in the trunk. Hold a pad on the sticky side and rub the windshield vigorously. The glass will really shine once you’ve wiped it to the max. Always keep these items in your car to be more productive. Drying is done using dryers, and, in many cases, mitters, side brushes, top brushes, and/or wraps outfitted with specialized drying material. Dryers may be present in a variety of forms, such as stationary gantries with a contouring roof jet or as small circular assemblies with nozzles of various shapes and sizes mounted on arches. Similarly to the rest of the tunnel's layout, the configuration and type of dryers varies based on operator preference. Mitters, side brushes, top brushes, and/or wraps outfitted with chamois- or microfiber-based material may follow the dryers. In many cases, these additional drying components retract if a customer does not buy an upgrade. Below the dryers or textile drying elements are often tire shine applicators (also referred to as tire shiners). Tire shiners typically appear as box-like assemblies with a guide rail on their entrance sides and a brush or sponge pad on the side closest to the vehicle. When active, a tire shiner extends out towards the vehicle and applies a water or silicone-based tire shine product to its brush, which in turn applies the product to the tire. Tire shiners are generally activated only if the customer purchases an upgrade.

The Exterior of the vehicle receives a hand wash with a steam cleaning to the door jams, wheel wells and the engine compartment. The detail team then performs a thorough vacuuming of the interior while removing any trash found during the process. After this, we clean and condition the vinyl and leather throughout the vehicle. Once the stains have been pre-treated, shampooing of the carpets and upholstery commences. Industrial fans are then used to ensure proper drying of the vehicle. While the interior is drying, the detail team begins work on the exterior. Tree sap, road tar and baked-insects are removed, and deep scratches are assessed. The whole exterior receives a hand buffing, and then a layer of protective wax. Tires and rims get a deep cleaning, and the windows become streak free before delivery.

I didn’t realize that car detailing was cleaning the inside and outside of the car and making sure that it looks like it did when you first bought it. Because car detailing also deals with cosmetic touch ups I think that it is worth the extra money. Because it requires so much work it is more expensive, but it also lasts longer. I would probably get my car detailed once a month and go through the car wash multiple times throughout the month.
A car hurtling down the road at 60 mph becomes a dartboard for any crud in the air. Your vehicle’s clear coat deflects some of it but can hold the sharper grit. Washing removes the surface dirt, but clay-barring is the only way to pluck out the embedded stuff. Buy a clay bar kit (one brand is Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay Kit), which includes a lubricating spray and several pieces of synthetic clay. Prepare the clay by tearing a piece into four sections. Flatten one section into a small pancake in the palm of your hand and rub it over the paint with a back-and-forth motion. Fold the clay against itself, knead it and reflatten until the clay turns gray. Then toss it and use a fresh piece until you remove the “darts” and get a glass-like finish. Renee, either you didn't read the article, or making assumptions. The article is only talking about INTERIOR details, not the whole shabang. An interior detail should not come close to $400. I wouldn't necessarily call this "skilled labor". Exterior details do require much more skill, but would disagree that $50 per hour is the "norm" for this type of work. It wouldn't make sense to pay $50/hr when some professional nurses and engineers don't make that much.

Richard was amazing! I came here a few hours after getting my car "cleaned" at a different location. There was still dirt and sticky stuff on my car and the inside hadn't gotten sprayed or anything. Richard did a great job at making sure everything was fixed and cleaned properly. I will be driving to this location next time even if it's 3 times the distances as the other location. Thank you Richard! Mobile Car Wash: First Wash Of 2017
“I feel the need to leave my thoughts regarding our experience we had with Matt at MDR cars. This nice man spent most of the day cleaning our dear Jaguar and made her paintwork shine once more. The chrome finish is exquisite. The interior smells wonderful and all the dials and switches feel and look beautiful again. I will definitely be using you again”

James and his team clean both my car and my husband. We've always been impressed by their standard of cleaning. They are always on time, very professional. The business is mobile so there is not an exact address for it. The guy who runs it is named George. He is honestly one of the most amazing car detailing specialists I have ever seen. He comes to where you are and will wash your car and clean the interior. Plan to be where you are for a few hours because when he cleans my car he works on anywhere from 2-5 hours. Old style paste waxes look great on antique cars. But they don’t produce the same “wet look” as modern synthetic wax, and they don’t last as long when detailing cars. When car dealers sell paint sealant, they’re really just applying a high-quality synthetic wax, which is something you can do yourself for a fraction of the price. Apply synthetic wax in small sections using a wax applicator sponge. Check out this unusual way to use car wax in the kitchen.

In many rural areas, so-called oil roads (some unpaved, others semi-paved) are sprayed with oil to control blowing sand and dust. If you find yourself driving along one of these back roads, your windshield may end up coated with oily grime. To cut through the muck, sprinkle cream of tartar over the windshield, and then wipe the glass down with soapy water, rinse well, and dry.

If you cleaned the inside of your windows before you cleaned the dash and applied vinyl protectant, you’ll just have to clean them again. That’s why detailers save glass cleaning until the very end. Cleaning the windows at this point removes all cleaning and vinyl treatment overspray and leaves you with sparkling clean windows. When it’s time to clean the windows on your house, don’t forget these 10 window cleaning tips from a pro.

To prevent streaks or water marks, it's always a good idea to hand dry your car after giving it a wash. If you've ever used a normal towel for this, you know how ineffective it becomes once it's soaking wet. The CleanTools Absorber is more absorbent than a towel makes drying anything faster and easier. Just wring the water out when you're done and put it back in the included storage tube.
Also according to Consumer Reports, air drying your car—or driving it around while it’s wet—after washing can leave unsightly watermarks on its exterior. Use a chamois or a soft terry cloth, plus a squeegee to soak excess water up—just make sure it doesn’t pick up dirt that can scratch the vehicle. Next, read about these items that you should never, ever leave in your car. Mobile Car Valeting Bromley 5 Star Review by Gerry M.
Exterior detailing involves cleaning, and either restoring or exceeding the original condition of the surface of the car's finish (usually a paint with a glossy finish), chrome trim, windows, wheels, and tires, as well as other visible components on a vehicle's exterior. A wide array of detailing products and techniques is used, based on the vehicle's surface type and condition, or the detailer's preference. Products include, but are not limited to: detergents and acid free degreasers (to break down dirt and soil), detail clay (to remove embedded contaminates), waxes, shines, and polishes (to resurface and then improve reflectivity, or to give the tires a shine), as well as a variety of applicators, brushes, and drying towels. Some people swear by carnauba wax. It produces a deep, warm shine. But we prefer the wet-gloss look of the newer synthetic polymer waxes (also known as paint sealant) such as Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax. It’s pricier than other synthetics, but it doesn’t leave a white film on plastic or trim—which is a real advantage. Plus, it’s really easy to apply. Apply the wax to the foam applicator and rub it into the finish with a swirling motion. Then wipe off the haze with a microfiber towel. Swap in a clean towel as soon as the first one loads up for one of our clever car tricks. Full Exterior Valet (step by step)
